Helpful Uniform Tips
•Try on your uniform pants after you get them home to make sure they have been altered correctly. Don’t wait until five minutes before the first game.
•Remember to wear black socks with your black marching shoes.
•Keep an extra pair of black socks and black gloves in your duffel bag.
•Always transport your uniform in your assigned garment bag and your hat in your assigned hat box.
•Wipe out your hatbox occasionally and store any personal items you are carrying in your hatbox in a Ziploc bag. This will help keep your hat clean and help prevent loss of your personal items.
•Perform a ‘uniform check’ after returning home form a game or concert to make certain you have not lost any piece of your uniform.
•If you misplace part of your uniform, check the lost and found in each band hall and notify a band director as soon as possible.
•Do not store your uniform in the garment bag at home. This will cause it to mildew and get that "funny" smell. This smell will never leave the garment.
•Never, ever store any part of your uniform wet.
•Take your uniform to the dry cleaners frequently- not just before UIL and at the end of the season. Your uniform and the people you sit by will thank you. It is perfectly okay to clean your uniform weekly. Duncan’s Cleaners (in the Tom Thumb center at White Chapel and Southlake Blvd.) offers discounts on band uniform cleaning.
•Always remove your baldric, jacket chain and white, snap-in collar before dry cleaning. They are easily lost and you will be responsible for their replacement.
•A good-looking uniform is essential to our success, both on the field and in the concert hall. If you have any problems or questions regarding your uniform, talk to one of the band directors.
